Traditional Braces
Traditional braces, made of either metal or ceramic, are a proven, time-tested way to straighten to teeth. Recent advancements in orthodontic treatment have resulted in braces that are lower profile, more comfortable, and easier to care for than ever before.
How Braces Straighten Teeth
Braces use a system of brackets and wires to gently guide your teeth into better alignment. The brackets are attached to each tooth, and a thin archwire is threaded through them. Over time, this wire is adjusted to apply steady pressure, gradually shifting your teeth into their proper positions.
Every few weeks, you will need to return to the office so that the archwire can be adjusted to ensure that the right amount of pressure is always being applied to your teeth and they continue to move.
Invisalign Clear Aligners
With Invisalign clear aligners, your smile is gradually straightened using a series of individually customized, clear plastic aligners that move your teeth over a period of time. Every two weeks or so, you simply switch out your aligners for the next set in the series, ensuring the right amount of pressure is being applied to your teeth constantly and consistently.
One of the great things about clear aligners is that they’re removable. That means you can take them out to brush and floss, which helps keep your teeth clean and healthy. Removing them also makes it easier to rinse and clean the aligners themselves, keeping bacteria buildup at bay.
Similar in appearance to whitening trays, clear aligners are designed to be hardly noticeable in your mouth, so people may not even notice you are undergoing orthodontic care.
