Let's face it - the dentist is no one's idea of a good time - especially kids. That's why we go out of our way to turn fear into fun, and alleviate insecurity in your kids from the very first visit on.

We make it our ambition to leave your children with a positive first impression, so that they will look forward to coming back, time after time.

The first visit to a dental office is a very impressionable one. That's why we have an open door policy. Bring your child to your dental check-up and let them see how easy and fun it is! We also invite children to come in for an office tour and to say "Hi" to the staff. Maybe even take a "spin" in a dental chair!

During you child's visits, we will teach them how to take care of their teeth and gums. We stress proper brushing and flossing to keep their teeth and gums healthy.

We promote good oral hygiene in children using a multifaceted approach. In addition to supplying them with educational materials, brushing timers and toothbrushes, we have in our hand the ultimate trump card: treasure chest rewards. Many of our young patients will overcome their strongest fears motivated by that prize they know they will get once it's all through.
A good illustration of this is the art
on the background of this page. We
commissioned a local artist to
paint the mural you see
here on all four walls
of the play room.
strong motivator for encouraging your child to take ownership of their dental health is inclusion in our cavity free club. Once your child is cavity free, their picture will be included on our Wall of Fame. They will also receive a cavity free certificate and be eligible to take part in our monthly cavity free draw.

Atmosphere is important, and we provide an environment that is sterlile only in the medical sense of the word. Humour, friendliness and fun are the order of the day, as children can see for themselves by noticing some of the playful decorations on the operatory walls.

Children behave best and are most alert when they are well rested. So it's usually best to schedule an appointment for children in the morning. If possible, prior to their first appointment, read your child a dental storybook such as "Berenstein Bears Visit the Dentist" or "Barney Goes to the Dentist."

During the last forty years, research and improved clinical methods have dramatically lowered the incidence of dental disease and reduced the discomfort of treatment. Therefore, there is no better time to start preventing dental problems than with a well designed preventive care program beginning with your child's primary teeth.

Even though baby teeth fall out and are replaced by adult teeth, it is important that they be retained for the proper time and are not prematurely lost. Early loss of baby teeth can effect the development of adult teeth and may result in need for expensive orthodontic treatment as well as alteration of facial structures, speech and eating ability.

First teeth need regular cleaning in order to remove plaque, a sticky substance composed of bacteria, excess food, bits of cells sloughed from the cheeks and gums plaque begins forming on the teeth as soon as they have erupted into the mouth. Bacteria in the plaque feed on sugars and produce acids as waste products. These acids eat away at teeth and irritate the gums, causing tooth decay and gum disease.

Children can have a lifetime of good oral health by establishing proper oral care habits beginning as soon as teeth erupt into the mouth.

3 reasons to take your child for check-ups:

1. You can find out if the cleaning you do at home is working
2. Your dentist can find problems right away and fix them before they become bigger problems
3. Your child can learn that going to the dentist helps prevent problems
